Avery Johnson is reportedly on his way out at Alabama.The university is negotiating with its men’s basketball coach on a contract buyout, AL.com reported late Thursday. It was not clear how close the sides are to an agreement. The Crimson Tide finished 18-16 (8-10 SEC) in 2018-19. They were eliminated in the first round of the NIT by visiting Norfolk State. Johnson, who will turn 54 on Monday, is 75-62 in four seasons in charge of the Tide, AL.com noted. He has led the program to one NCAA Tournament berth, in 2018.Alabama is Johnson’s first college coaching job. He coached in the NBA with the Mavericks and Nets and did extensive television work prior to coming to Tuscaloosa.
